How does feeling deeply save us?

My Story

I have struggled to let myself feel how I really felt my whole life. My emotions have always been big, but for a long time, they were a lie. After years of hiding from my emotions out of fear that they would swallow me, I decided I was doing more damage by smothering them. The initial release was dramatic, but to my surprise, it was greatly cathartic. Now I make sure to stay in tune with my emotions, even when they cause me pain. But feeling my pain as it comes, honoring it, and letting it go, is a lot better than pushing it down till it implodes within me. And the best way for me to handle my pain safely, so I can heal as I hurt, is to write.

Why the name?

Live to the point of tears is a quote from one of my favorite philosophers, Albert Camus, who is featured on the main page. The quote is also featured as a tattoo on my ribcage. He wrote a lot for a long time, and a lot of it is far too educated for me to understand. But a lot of what he says really speaks to me. He knew that because life is so short and fragile, it is so much more important. To live to the point of tears means to feel life as much as you can. To feel as alive as you can. The point is to strive to feel so deeply and live so actively that your emotion, your life, comes flowing from you.

Note of dedication

This website is dedicated to a beautiful friend of mine. She is the only reason this whole thing exists. She pushes me to always be kinder to myself. She reminds me that life is full of things to be thankful for; you just have to actively look for them. She is a safe space for me and has never judged me. She is wise beyond her years, and I am glad to have her guidance. We laugh often and never part without saying I love you. She changes my life every day without trying.

Thank you, this is all for you. I love you
